Need a poem or short speech for 11yr old girl for her granma’s funeral service

Hi,
Granma is scottish having been here for near on 60 years, suffered repiratory distress for some years now and due to a fall in hospital and resultant broken hip has met a quicker end than expected.. I am not much of a public speaker or writer however my daughter is, it is difficult finding the right things to say with little time. My girls haven’t seen a lot of granma but granma has been the very special scottish connection. We are not religious and are expecting a very small intimate funeral.

First of all i’m very sorry for your loss, i know ow difficult it can be to lose someone close to you. Here is a short poem that could work.

I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new
I thought about you yesterday and days before that too,
I think of you in silence I often speak your name
All I have are memories and your picture in a frame
Your memory is my keepsake with which I’ll never part
God has you in His keeping I have you in my heart.

my nan died last week, i havent really felt ready to release my emotion, because i think i was still in shock, this made me cry and i think it truely suits the way i feel about my nan, and i will be reading it at her funeral.

Is this any help?

Grandma, you were just a girl,
So many years ago.
You had your loves and had your dreams,
You watched us come and go.

You watched us make the same mistakes,
That you had made before,
But that just made you hold us tight,
And love us all the more.

We haven’t always thought about
The things that you have seen.
To us you’ve just been ‘Grandma’,
No thought of who you’ve been.

But we remember now in love,
Your life from start to end,
And we’re just glad we knew you,
As Grandma, and as Friend.

All Of The Poems

Hey to all of you but my grandma died on 1/11/08 and i needed a speech that came from the heart and because of her lost i could speak so to all of you poets out there thank you. i love you grandma i will see you again

If this poem is a little long for you, maybe just a few verses! Deepest Sympathy !

She is Gone
You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she’s gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Many thanks

I too have just lost my 96 year old Grand mother and have been asked to read the eulogy at the funeral on behalf of the Grandchildren (7 of them) & Great Grandchildren (19 of them) !!

I’ve been strong this week (for others especiaally my Mum, wife & kids), but lost it completley after reading the first poem listed here.

It has inspired me and brought all of the great memories back.

Many, many thanks to whoever wrote / posted this.

Yesterday,Today,Tomorrow

No matter what happend,
I wouldn’t give up .
Without u is not the end
Cz I know I should be going up.

I kept thinking,
But this feeling.
Undescribable one
Have not been gone.

Like a bird,
You can now fly.
Freedom is not the third
Now I’ll shall not lay.

Tomorrow is another day,
Thee not have it on mind
Yesterday was so fast ,
Time not enough to spent w/ u

Still I today,
Will be a much better person.
It’s day by day
And we shall meet again.

)

if i should go tomorrow…

If I should go tomorrow
It would never be goodbye
For I have left my heart with you,
So don’t you ever cry.
The love that’s deep within me
Shall reach you from the stars
You’ll feel it from the heavens
And it will heal the scars.
